HEAT PUMPS WILL GO A LONG WAY IN THE FIGHT TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE
As reported in the Boston Globe on 8/21/2021 "The report released by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change last week made it clear: In order to see sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions required to stabilize the climate, we will need to see a massive overhaul in home heating systems. In New England that will ...mean replacing gas or oil...with a cold climate heat pump."

A NOTE ABOUT AIR CONDITIONING, OZONE, and GLOBAL WARMING
The refrigerant known as R22 has been the most widely used 'freon' gas until recently. R22 contains Chlorine. In the upper atmosphere Chlorine reacts with Ozone (an oxygen molecule containing 3 oxygen atoms) and breaks it apart, destroying the ozone which provides protection from dangerous radiation from the sun. It is now illegal to use R22 in new HVAC systems, but there are tens of thousands of systems which still contain R22 and they can be repaired and recharged. We use only refrigerants which contain no chlorine.
